What we collect, why, and for how long

Contact messages

Data:
Your name, email address, company (optional) and message, sent through the Google Form linked from the contact page or by email to info@tensoropt.ai.
Legal basis:
Steps you ask for before a possible contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (GDPR Article 6(1)(b) and (f)).
Kept:
5 years after the last message, unless the conversation leads to a contract; contract and invoicing records are kept for as long as Hungarian law requires.

Booking a call

Data:
The name, email address and answers you give Calendly when you book, and the time you choose. The booking link also tells Calendly which page of this site it came from.

The email course "Measure the search you can't see"

Data:
Your email address, your answer to "What does your search run on?", the page or link you signed up from (a sign-up from the DEVCON 2026 page or link is recorded as Liferay whatever you answer, and from 4 November starts at the third email), the record of your confirmation, and whether you click links in the emails, which is used to time the follow-ups. Up to 7 short emails over about 8 weeks.
Legal basis:
Your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), confirmed by email (double opt-in).
Kept:
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. A sign-up you have not yet confirmed is stored in MailerLite until you confirm it or ask us to delete it.

The plugin reminder (/dxp-sel-signup)

Data:
Your email address, the reminder date, the tags in the link that brought you there, and the confirmation record MailerLite keeps. The collection start date in the link is used to work out the reminder date and is not stored. You get one confirmation email and one reminder, which links to the search log guide and to booking; never the course or any other email.
Legal basis:
Your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), confirmed by email (double opt-in).
Kept:
Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 7 days; the record is deleted within 7 days after the reminder is sent.

Book updates and the Measuring Search waitlist

Data:
Your email address and the record of your confirmation, for updates about Designing Hybrid Search Systems and Measuring Search, never TensorOpt sales emails. You sign up on the book page, and the sign-up counts only once you confirm it by email.
Legal basis:
Your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), confirmed by email (double opt-in).
Kept:
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you signed up for sample reports or book news before October 2026, your address stays on that list, under the consent you gave then, until you unsubscribe. A sign-up you have not yet confirmed is stored in MailerLite until you confirm it or ask us to delete it.

Analytics with Microsoft Clarity (only if you accept the cookie banner)

Data:
What you do on a page: clicks, scrolling, mouse movement and text selection, and session recordings of the page as you see it, with what you type into form fields masked. Also the page address including its query string (on the plugin pages: the start date and the two tags), the page title and the address of the page you came from (when you arrive through the plugin's links there is none, because they send no referrer), device and browser details (browser and version, operating system, device model, language, screen size), the window size and page dimensions, and script errors and performance events. Clarity links them through a pseudonymous ID that its cookies store. None of this is collected before you accept.
Legal basis:
Your consent, given through the cookie banner: GDPR Article 6(1)(a) for the analytics, and Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive for Clarity's cookies. You can withdraw it at any time.
Kept:
Clarity keeps recordings for 30 days from the time of recording; favourite recordings and a randomly selected sample are kept for up to 9 months, and heatmaps and labels for up to 9 months (Clarity's documentation).

Visiting this website

Data:
Vercel, which hosts the site, processes your IP address, browser details and the address you request, including its query string (for example the start date and tags in the plugin's links).
Legal basis:
Our legitimate interest in delivering a working, secure website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
Kept:
The request logs available to us are kept for one day.

Cookies and browser storage

Your choice

When you press Accept or Reject on the cookie banner, your browser stores your choice and its date in its local storage for tensoropt.ai. This is not a cookie and it is not sent to us. It is needed to remember your choice, so it is stored without asking. It stays until you change it, and the banner asks again after 6 months or when what it covers changes. If you leave the page without choosing, nothing is stored and the banner appears again on the next page.

Microsoft Clarity, only after you accept

Clarity is loaded, and sets cookies, only after you press Accept. Before a choice, and after Reject, the Clarity script is not loaded and your browser makes no request to any Clarity host. Without JavaScript the banner does not appear and Clarity does not run.

After Accept, Clarity runs on every page of the site, the plugin pages included (/dxp-sel-signup and /dxp-sel-booking). The files under /kit/ are downloads, not pages: the banner and Clarity do not apply to them. We tell Clarity that you allow analytics storage and that advertising storage is denied. Clarity sets these cookies:

  • _clck (first-party): Persists the Clarity user ID and preferences, so the same visitor to this site keeps the same ID.
  • _clsk (first-party): Connects several page views by one visitor into a single Clarity session recording.
  • CLID (third-party): Identifies the first time Clarity saw this visitor on any site that uses Clarity.
  • ANONCHK (third-party): Indicates whether MUID is transferred to ANID, a cookie used for advertising. Clarity does not use ANID, so this is always 0.
  • MR (third-party): Indicates whether to refresh MUID.
  • MUID (third-party): Identifies unique web browsers visiting Microsoft sites, for advertising, site analytics and other operational purposes.
  • SM (third-party): Synchronises MUID across Microsoft domains.

Each of these cookies lasts up to 1 month.

Change or withdraw your choice

Choose “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page to open the banner again. If you choose Reject after you accepted, we tell Clarity that consent is denied, delete the first-party Clarity cookies (_clck and _clsk) that tensoropt.ai can reach, store your new choice and its date, and reload the page so that Clarity is gone and makes no further request. The cookies marked third-party belong to Microsoft's domains, which this site cannot reach: remove them in your browser's settings. Withdrawing stops new recording; it does not affect what was recorded before.

Other websites

Fonts and the stylesheet that displays mathematics (KaTeX) on blog posts are served from tensoropt.ai. Apart from Clarity after you accept, no page loads a font, stylesheet or script from another website.

Calendly and Google Forms are separate websites with their own cookies, which apply only once you follow a link to them.

Who processes data for us

  • MailerLite, Inc.: Email for the course, the plugin reminder and book updates. Subscriber data is stored in the EU by MailerLite, Inc., a US company, which may process it wherever it or its sub-processors operate.
  • Calendly: Booking calls. A US company. Linked, not embedded: nothing loads from Calendly until you follow the booking link.
  • Google: Google Forms, for contact messages, and the email service behind info@tensoropt.ai. A US company. The form is linked, not embedded: nothing loads from Google until you follow the message link.
  • Atlassian (Jira): Our sales pipeline. Contact and booking details may be copied into it by hand.
  • Vercel: Hosting. A US company; the site may be served from the United States.

Microsoft (Clarity) is not our processor. Clarity runs only if you accept the cookie banner. Under the Microsoft Clarity Terms, we and Microsoft each act as an independent controller of the personal data processed through Clarity, and Microsoft's use of it is covered by the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Clarity's documentation says it stores data in the Microsoft Azure cloud, and that for customers in the EU the contract is with Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, which has standard contractual clauses with Microsoft Corporation in the United States for transfers between the two.

Transfers outside the EU: [OWNER] name the safeguard each provider's data processing terms give (for example the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses).

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and portability, and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time, for example with the unsubscribe link in every email or with “Cookie settings” in the footer; this does not affect processing before the withdrawal. Write to info@tensoropt.ai; we answer within one month.

You can complain to the Hungarian data protection authority, NAIH (Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság, naih.hu), to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO, ico.org.uk), or to the data protection authority where you live or work.
